Mark Howard - The Drowsy Chaperone

Mark’s setup from The Drowsy Chaperone at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas.

“The drums are Gretsch Catalina Series with birch shells in Satin Cherry. They are an 18”x22” Kick, 8”x10” Rack Tom, 14”x14” Floor Tom and a 5.5”x14” Snare. 

Cymbals (from left to right) include a pair of 14'' Zildjian New Beat Hats, an 8” Zildjian K Custom Dark Splash, a 15’’ Sabian HHX Studio Crash, an 18’’ Zildjian Medium Thin Crash, a 20’’ Zildjian A Custom Ride, and a 14’’ Zildjian A Custom Crash. 

The auxiliary percussion includes an LP Black Beauty Cowbell, a yellow LP Blast Block, a green LP Blast Block, an Acme Siren Whistle, a 6’’ Alan Abel Triangle mounted on the Miller Machine, a set of Treeworks Tre28 Windchimes and two Musser Chimes (Bb and G). There is also a Meinl trap table on the right side.

The hardware is a mixture of Gibraltar, PDP, and Pearl. 

The Roland SPD-S sampling pad was used to play three cup chimes (6”, 7” and 8”) and an opera gong.

The sticks are Vic Firth Stanton Moore Signature Series, a pair of Innovative Percussion Brushes, Ron Vaughn Cymbal Mallets, a Promark Hot Rod, and a Mike Balter Chime Mallet. 

The heads are all Evans and include EC2 Coated Batter heads on the Toms, a Coated HD Dry head on the Snare, and an EMAD2 on the Kick.
